Pass 1 drafting behavior and inputs

Understand how context and policy intent are used to produce the initial structured draft.

This maps to the early V3 stages

The current engine does not label anything "Pass 1" in the UI. What this article covers corresponds to the Build organization profile, Check policy readiness, Build standards context, Build policy blueprint, and Draft policy sections steps on the generation progress page.

Summary

  • Understand how context and policy intent are used to produce the initial structured draft.
  • Use this guide to complete the workflow with audit-ready evidence and ownership.
  • If you hit a blocker, run troubleshooting first, then escalate with context.

Steps

  1. 1. Start generation with a complete profile

From /dashboard/policies/new, pick a category. The engine builds your canonical organization profile from onboarding answers before drafting anything.

  2. 2. Let readiness and standards context build

The job checks family readiness for the category, then builds a standards pack from your adopted standards before drafting begins.

  3. 3. Review the blueprint and section drafts as they complete

The blueprint defines section structure; section packets are drafted against it. Weak or missing onboarding answers here are the most common cause of thin initial drafts.

Verification

  • The progress page shows Build organization profile and Build policy blueprint as completed before drafting starts.
  • The resulting draft reflects your actual industry, regions, and data types rather than generic placeholder language.

Troubleshooting

The initial draft feels generic or thin.

Revisit your onboarding profile, especially the core Essentials fields. Thin context at this stage produces thin section drafts later.
