Core vs deep onboarding and what unlocks drafting
Understand the two-stage onboarding model and the exact threshold for drafting unlock.
Core unlocks drafting; Deep is optional
Onboarding has two sections, Essentials and Full profile, badged Core and Deep. Only the 8 core required fields need to be answered to unlock drafting. Deep fields improve quality but are never required.
Summary
- Understand the two-stage onboarding model and the exact threshold for drafting unlock.
- Use this guide to complete the workflow with audit-ready evidence and ownership.
- If you hit a blocker, run troubleshooting first, then escalate with context.
Steps
1. Answer the Essentials section first
Complete the 8 core required fields in the Essentials (Core) section of /dashboard/onboarding.
2. Generate as soon as Core is complete
Once all 8 core fields are answered, drafting unlocks immediately; you do not need to finish the Full profile section first.
3. Return later for the Full profile (Deep) section
Fill in the Full profile section when you have time. It sharpens future drafts and recommendations but does not block anything if left incomplete.
Verification
- The Essentials section shows all 8 core fields answered before you try to generate.
- The Core badge, not a percentage, is what confirms drafting is unlocked.
- Leaving Full profile fields blank does not block policy generation.
Troubleshooting
Generation is still blocked after answering several questions.
Count only the 8 fields in the Essentials (Core) section. Deep/Full profile answers do not count toward the unlock threshold.
